Smuggled rice seized

TIRUPATTUR: About 10 tonnes of PDS rice smuggled from the Vaniyambadi division to Andhra Pradesh have been seized by the Tirupattur Taluk Supply Officer (TSO) at Chinnamottur near Jolarpet on Saturday night.

The rice was being smuggled through a lorry. Though the smuggled rice had been seized and taken back to the Tamil Nadu Civil Supplies Corporation godown at Tirupattur, the lorry driver was said to be absconding.

The raid was conducted by the Tirupattur TSO Vincent Rajasekar and Tirupattur taluk Tahsildar Govindaraj. — Staff Reporter
