Baby injected with hot needle dies

Krishnagiri: The three-day-old baby, which was injected with a hot needle and admitted to the intensive care unit at the Krishnagiri Government Hospital, died on Saturday night. The family members injected the needle into the baby’s chest, navel and groin. They said that they resorted to this traditional practice as the baby had difficulty in passing stools and urine. Doctors said the baby died due to septicaemia. The District Collector had ordered an enquiry, sources said. — Staff Reporter
