Misinformation campaign: Pinarayi
Staff Reporter
PATHANMTHITTA: Communist Party of India-Marxist (CPI-M) State secretary Pinarayi Vijayan has said that pastoral letters against the party will in no away affect its prospects.
Inaugurating a public meeting at Adoor on Sunday, Mr. Vijayan said the party was strong enough to face the challenges posed by a misinformation campaign unleashed by its detractors. He alleged that the United Democratic Front (UDF) was trying to destroy the CPI(M) and it was not fair on the part of the priests to take up this “UDF’s political mission.”
Mr. Vijayan said the CPI(M) had no animosity towards the Churches. The party would strongly oppose any oppression of, or injustice towards, the minority communities, even when the Church declined to accept its support.
He said a majority among the minority communities were with the CPI(M). The Church leadership should try to understand this reality, he added.
