Train services back on schedule

Staff Reporter

Thiruvananthapuram: Normality was restored to train services on Sunday morning after a six-hour flash strike by a section of loco pilots affiliated to the All-India Loco Running Staff Association threw them out of gear on Saturday.

All mail and express trains from the Thiruvananthapuram central station departed as scheduled on Sunday morning. Incoming trains were delayed as many of them were held up at various stations on account of the flash strike. “There have been no problems and the trains are running as per schedule,” a railway spokesman said.

Meeting at Chennai

Rakesh Chopra, General Manager of Southern Railway, has convened a meeting in Chennai on Monday to sort out the issue over “crew link” with the office-bearers of the association. Railway sources said the meeting, convened in the wake of the flash strike, would be held at the Southern Railway headquarters at 10 a.m.

Divisional Railway Manager, Thiruvananthapuram, Titus P. Koshy, along with Senior Divisional Operations Manager J. Vinayan, left for Chennai from here on Sunday evening to attend the meeting.
