Chandigarh: The Punjab Government on Sunday approved setting up of 1800 MW Talwandi Sabo Thermal Power Plant in Mansa district. A decision to this effect was taken at a Cabinet meeting, presided over by Chief Minister Parkash Singh Badal, here, an official spokesman said. Self-sufficiencyThe setting up of the power plant in Banwala village would help the State become self-sufficient in power by 2010, the spokesman said. The SAD-BJP Government had embarked on an ambitious programme to generate additional power of 5000 MW by setting up three new thermal plants at Rajpura, Abohar and Banwala.
