TDP demands corpus fund for agriculture
Staff Reporter
Sangareddy: Former Minister Kadiam Srihari on Sunday demanded that the State Government establish a Rs. 500 crore corpus fund for stabilising prices of agricultural commodities. Citing the example of Maharashtra where the government adds Rs. 500 per tonne of sugarcane to the msupport price, Srihari reminded that Chief minister Y.S. Rajasekhara Reddy made similar commitment for setting up a fund for farmers during the elections.
Addressing the Telugu Desam party cadre here, he pointed out that the amount of Rs. 350 crore the Controller and Auditor General has confirmed as misappropriated by the government on just one project in Jalayagnam would have helped it setting up a fund.
Forecasting a joint fight by the Congress and the Telangana Rastra Samithi in the next general and Assembly elections, Mr. Srihari said both the parties have been publicly fighting with each other only to satisfy staunch Telangana protagonists. He also announced that TDP president N. Chandrababu Naidu would be visiting the district from December 14.
