Effigy representing corruption burnt

VIJAYAWADA: Marking the anti-corruption day, activists of the All India Youth Federation’s (AIYF) city unit burnt the effigy of ‘corruption and bribe – the two headed devil’ at Lenin Centre here on Sunday.
]Expressing concern over the ever-increasing corruption in the society, the general secretary of the federation’s city unit N. Sambasiva Rao said huge extent of public money was being misused due to the corrupt practices of politicians and officials.
It was estimated that over 1.5 lakh crores of public money was being misused every year, with which so many long-pending problems of people such as health and education could be addressed, he said.
“There is no control over corruption in all major departments. Youth should take the lead to end corrupt practices in the society,” he said.
All India Youth Federation city president K. Suresh and others were present.
