Maoist leader’s wife held

ONGOLE: Giddalur police took into their custody Madhavi alias Mary, wife of top Maoist leader, N Panduranga Reddy alias Sagar for interrogation in different cases in which she was allegedly involved in Prakasam district.Chennai police had arrested her three days ago and Giddalur police obtained production warrant from first class judicial magistrate court at Giddalur for taking her into their custody for interrogation.

Police are bringing her from Chennai to Giddalur.

It may be recalled that Prakasam district police arrested Sagar here on Wednesday and he was remanded to judicial custody for 15 days.

Markapur police took him into their custody and recovered huge haul of gold ornaments and cash stashed in a dump in Nallamala forest and an AK 47 weapon he had abandoned in a village in Podili mandal on the basis of information given by Sagar during interrogation.

Giddalur police wanted his wife Madhavi in three different cases - blasting of a house and burning of a lorry in Diguvametla village in 2001, opening fire at police near Nallaguntla village of Komarole mandal in 2007 and planting of landmines to culvert pipes in Racharla mandal in a bid to attack Giddalur MLA, Pagadala Ramaiah last month.
