Undertrial killed by mental patient

Howrah: An undertrial undergoing treatment at the Howrah district hospital here was killed by a mental patient on Sunday, police said.

Jhantu Kar died after he was hit with a water pipe by the patient who was accommodated in the same room, Superintendent of Police Neeraj Kumar Singh said.

The GRP on Saturday night brought a person to the hospital who required medical intervention.

After examining him, the doctors said he had mental problems requiring immediate medical attention.

The man was then accommodated in the same room where Kar was lodged. — PTI
