Traffic restrictions for today

NEW DELHI: The Delhi traffic police have imposed restrictions on vehicular movement at several places in view of a religious procession being taken out by the Delhi Sikh Gurdwara Management Committee on the occasion of the martyrdom anniversary of Guru Tegh Bahadur on Monday.

Beginning from Red Fort parade ground at 10 a.m., the procession will pass by Esplaned Road, Gurdwara Sis Ganj Sahib, Chandni Chowk, Nai Sarak, Chawri Bazar, Hauz Qazi, Ajmeri Gate, Pul Paharganj, Desh Bandhi Gupta Road, Multani Dhanda Chowk, Chuna Mandi, Paharganj Main Bazar, Basant Road, Panchkuian Road, Bangla Sahib Marg, Baba Kharak Singh Marg, GPO roundabout and Pandit Pant Marg and reach Gurdwara Rakab Ganj Sahib.

No traffic will be allowed from Jhandewalan roundabout to Ranjit Singh Marg-JLN Marg after 11-30 a.m. towards Ajmeri Gate, except for the New Delhi railway station.

Vehicles will not be allowed towards Connaught Place from Mandir Marg and Punchkuian Road after 2 p.m.; and via GPO (New Delhi) after 3 p.m.

According to the traffic police, no buses will be allowed towards Lohia Hospital roundabout from S.P. Marg and Ghyarah Murti after 4 p.m. East-bound buses coming from West Delhi will be diverted from Shankar Road roundabout towards Simon Bolivour Marg. Buses from West Delhi and Central Delhi to the New Delhi railway station, Shivaji Stadium, Ajmeri Gate and Kamla Market will terminate at Aram Bagh. Buses going from Central and West Delhi to Central Secretariat and South Delhi will have to take Faiz Road-Link Road and upper Ridge Road roundabout.

The buses from trans-Yamuna via ITO bridge to the New Delhi railway station will be stopped at Jawaharlal Nehru Marg-Ranjit Singh Marg, and those going from South to North Delhi will be diverted from the Police Headquarters crossing towards I.P. Marg, Ring Road, Boulevard Road and vice versa.

No commercial vehicles will be allowed on Ring Road between Ashram Chowk to Akhara Chandgi Ram, Subhash Marg, S.P.Marg, Naya Bazar and Desh Bandhu Bupta Road. Those going from South to North Delhi have been advised to take Ashram Chowk-Ring road-Dhaula Kuan-Punjabi Bagh-Azadpur and vice-versa.

Commuters have been advised to avoid Paharganj, Connaught place and Karol Bagh after 3 p.m.; Desh Bandhu Gupta Road, Jhandewalan-Ajmeri Gate roundabout, Panchkuian Road, Jawaharlal Nehru Marg and Kamla Market roundabout after 11 a.m.; and Gole Market, Bhagat Singh Marg and Baba Khadak Singh Marg after 5 p.m.
