Young man from Bihar arrested

Staff Reporter

NEW DELHI: A young man allegedly wanted in a murder case in Bihar has been arrested by the Crime Branch of the Delhi police. With his arrest, the police claim to have helped their Bihar counterparts rescue a businessman kidnapped from Vaishali for a ransom of Rs.50 lakh by his accomplices.

Faiz Ali Khan, a resident of Hazipur in Bihar, was arrested at Rohini here on December 5. The police allegedly recovered a country-made firearm from his possession. During interrogation, he purportedly disclosed that he was a member of Shailender Paswan gang which was involved in several murder and kidnapping for ransom cases. Faiz made a shocking revelation that on November 4, the gang had kidnapped a businessman from Vaishali. The Bihar police arrested two of the gang members but were unable to trace the businessman.

According to Deputy Commissioner of Police (Crime Branch) Madhup Tewari, Faiz provided specific information on the whereabouts of the businessman. Subsequently the Bihar police were informed, which took Faiz along on remand and at his instance mounted raids and finally rescued the businessman on December 8.
