Meet on intellectual property rights

MADURAI: An awareness programme on intellectual property rights (IPR) would be organised here for entrepreneurs in and around Madurai on December 15 by Madurai District Tiny and Small Scale Industries Association (MADITSSIA), TANSTIA-FNF service Centre (TFSC) and L-RAMP. TFSC is a collaborative venture between Tamil Nadu Small and Tiny Industries Association (TANSTIA) and Friedrich Naumann Foundation (FNF) of Germany for the benefit of small and medium enterprises in India.

The Lemelson Recognition and Mentoring Programme (L-RAMP) is a joint initiative of Indian Institute of Technology - Madras and Rural Innovations Network with support from the Lemelson Foundation, U.S.

The programme would focus on bringing about an understanding of the procedures of protecting IPRs in the Indian and international content. It would also create awareness about how to harness IPRs to enhance competitiveness, cultivate a climate of creativity and innovation, according to a press release.

The meet would also cover, among other things, the legislations covering IPRs in India, those responsible for administrating IPRs, copyright law and related issues.

The programme would be held at MADITSSIA Hall, Dr. Ambedkar Road, between 5.30 p.m. and 7.30 p.m.
