Staff Reporter

VIJAYAWADA: The Municipal Corporation will recruit three specialists in Urban Community Development (UCD) wing for better implementation of the welfare schemes in the city.

The corporation is proposing to recruit a specialist for capacity building/institutional building, while a specialist will look into the works related to livelihoods. Another specialist will monitor the implementation of the micro finance. The corporation received as many as 80 applications for all the three posts. However, it found that only 42 applicants were eligible for interview.

UCD in-charge Project Officer (PO) Z. Srinivasa Rao said that 32 persons had applied for more than one post, and, hence, the short-listed applications were 42 in total. The corporation would conduct interviews for the short-listed candidates on Tuesday, he said.

Dr. Rao said that a committee comprising of UCD PO, Examiner of Accounts, Additional Commissioner (Projects), District Rural Development Agency (DRDA) PO, District Project Director (Indira Kranti Pathakam), two senior bankers, one each from Andhra Bank and Indian Bank, would conduct the interviews.

The corporation was proposing to pay Rs. 20,000 per month for each specialist, he said.

The minimum eligibility was graduation with five years experience in relevant field or four years experience with post-graduation. The State government issued GO 414 dated 4th June, 2001 to appoint specialists under the Swarna Jayanthi Sahari Rozgar Yojna (SJSRY) scheme.

The VMC is first in the city to issue notification and appoint the specialists in the State.
