Thiruvananthapuram
Thiruvananthapuram: The Thiruvananthapuram District Congress Committee has come out with a scathing attack on the LDF government for its failure in addressing the problems of the people, be it related to drinking water, price rise, education. The political resolution at a DCC leadership camp here on Sunday expressed strong resentment at the government’s failure to address the problems in the education sector, leaving the fate of thousands of youths uncertain, even as the Left students unions continued to convert campuses into violent territories. The resolution accused the CPI(M) dominated varsity syndicates of trying to demolish the self-financing professional institutions by bowing to the pressures of educational lobbies in other States. The resolution, moved by DCC vice-president V.S. Hareendranathan said price rise had severely hit family budgets. The government had failed to stop palm oil imports, carry forward paddy procurement and implement the recommendations of the Agriculture Debt Relief Commission. The resolution criticised CPI(M) State secretary Pinarayi Vijayan for his uncharitable remarks against the Church, the media, academics and the courts. The DCC camp was held as part of the KPCC’s campaign to give a new focus to the party’s functioning.
