Pharmacy graduate attempts suicide
Staff Reporter
BAPATLA: In a shocking incident, a pharmacy graduate from Bapatla attempted to hang himself, unable to bear the ‘torture’ meted out by the town police on Sunday.
Ch. Ashok Kumar, a pharmacy graduate studying in Tenali, has been working part time as a painter at the house of S.A. Samrajyam in Akberpet to meet the expenses of his education. Based on a complaint that a cell phone was lost in the house, the police took the youth into custody and allegedly beat him up severely.
After a few days, the complainant informed the police that the cell phone had been traced at her house itself. The police then tried to hush up the matter and sent him home.
Unable to bear the embarrassment, the youth tried to commit suicide at his house in Parisonpet. He was however prevented from doing so by his maternal aunt.
