“Public and industries are hit hard”

TIRUNELVELI: Condemning the “undeclared frequent power cuts”, the Tamil Nadu People’s Consumer Federation has urged the State Government to initiate earnest steps to augment power generation to improve the situation, “which has hit hard the public and the industries”.
The executive committee of the forum, which met here on Saturday, said the Tamil Nadu Electricity Board, by taking sincere steps to improve power generation in the State, should also ensure unhindered quality power supply to the consumers.
“If the power supply is not improved, the forum will file cases against the TNEB in the next few days.”
Another resolution said the Tamil Nadu State Transport Corporation was collecting “exorbitant ticket fare” from the commuters in the guise of operating Limited Stop Service buses and Point to Point buses, which should be stopped immediately.
Criticising the recent order on the removal of black sun control film from cars, the forum said the direction was nothing but a trespassing into the liberty of the individuals and hence, it should be withdrawn.
Besides ensuring proper distribution of essential commodities such as rice, kerosene, sugar, wheat etc in the rations shops, applicant seeking additional gas cylinders should be given without delay.
