Award for microbiologist

PUDUCHERRY: J. Shanmugam, Professor of Microbiology at Sri Manakula Vinayagar Medical College and Hospital, Kalitheerthalkuppam in Puducherry, has been nominated for the ‘IAMM Endowment Oration Award – 2007’ from Indian Association of Medical Microbiologists (IAMM) for his contribution to medical microbiology. A release from college said he would deliver the oration at the next conference of the IAMM, which would be held in Pune in 2008. He was also awarded the Dr Brammaiah Sastri Memorial Award (2006) by the Indian Association of Basic Medical Sciences. — Staff Reporter
