‘TDP has no right to talk about welfare of hostel students’
|
‘Rs. 2, 979 crore spent during last three years’
|
HYDERABAD: The Andhra Pradesh Congress Committee has said that the Telugu Desam Party has no right to talk about the welfare of the hostel students and the conditions of hostels in the State.
APCC spokesperson N. Tulasi Reddy in a press note issued here on Sunday accused the previous TDP Government of completely neglecting the social welfare hostels.
The TDP Government had spent Rs. 1,997 crore during 2001-04 while the Congress Government had spent Rs. 2,979 crore during the last three years, he said.
On hostels alone, a sum of Rs. 267 crore was earmarked when compared to Rs. 179 crore spent by the previous Telugu Desam Party Government.
He said it is to the credit of the Congress Government that the mess charges were enhanced.
False campaign
He said the TDP is resorting to false campaign about the prevailing situation in the hostels, when the Government has initiated a series of steps to improve the facilities by enhancing the budgetary allocation.
