India wins two medals
New Delhi: Indian men collected a silver and bronze medal on the final day of the Commonwealth powerlifting championship in Christchurch, New Zealand, finishing with a rich haul of 11 gold, six silver and four bronze medals in the event.
Indrapreet claimed the silver in the +125kg category in the senior division with a total lift of 740kg, while Jeevan Kumar won bronze in the 110kg category by managing 635kg. J. Jenson lifted 690kg in the 125kg category but had to settle for fourth position.
Dronacharya awardee Bhupender Dhawan was India’s coach at the championship, a press release said. — PTI
