MCC wins

Chennai: Madras Cricket Club beat Cosmopolitan Club 3-2 to win the Karlsburg-Presidency Club tennis tournament at the Club premises here on Sunday.

In the semifinals, MCC beat Madras Gymkhana Club 5-0, while Cosmopolitan got past Presidency Club 3-2.

The results: Final: Madras Cricket Club bt Cosmopolitan Club 3-2 (G. Rajesh & C. Jasper bt Stanley Martin & Shivakumar Palani 6-2, 6-0; Karthik & Hiten Joshi lost to Karthik Kailash & Vijay 1-6, 3-6; Rajiv Vijayakumar & Naveen Kumar bt Vikram & Bathrinath 6-3, 7-5; Ganesh & Mukund lost to Srikanth & Manikandan 6-7(4), 1-6; Manoj Chandani & Vivek Reddy bt Krithika & Narayan Bhatt 6-0, 6-3).

Semifinals: MCC bt Madras Gymkhana 5-0 (Jasper & Vivek Reddy bt Anush Rajasekar & Amrit 6-1, 6-2; Manoj Chandani & Rajesh bt M.P. Shankar & Murali Padmanabhan 6-0, 6-3; Hiten Joshi & Karthik bt Assem Mittal & Verghese Kuruvilla 6-0, 6-0; Mukund & Ganesh bt Kiran Raj & Ashok 6-4, 4-6, 6-2; Rajiv Vijayakumar & Naveen Kumar bt Anand Mohan & Selvam 6-0, 6-3).
