Annamalai, Madras knocked out
VISAKHAPATNAM: Three out of the top four teams of last year, including holder Annamalai and runner-up Madras, were knocked out of the South Zone inter-university volleyball tournament for men at the Andhra University Golden Jubilee ground here on Sunday.
Mahatma Gandhi University, third last year, was the only team among the last year’s top four to make it to the semifinal league.
SRM University, Chennai defeated Annamalai 25-13, 30-32, 25-13, 25-10, Bharatiyar beat Madras 25-16, 26-24, 26-24 and Satyabhama University eliminated Calicut 25-21, 16-25, 25-7, 25-11.
MG University edged out Kannur 23-25, 25-20, 25-16, 21-25, 15-13.
