Mohanty and Sarkar shine

SILIGURI: Medium-pacer Vasanth Mohanty’s six for 28 enabled Orissa skittle out Bengal for 107 on the first day of their Ranji Trophy Super League match here on Sunday.

However, Orissa was bundled out for 99 in reply with Sourav Sarkar picking up five wickets.

At Amritsar, opener Karan Goel’s unbeaten 121 (272b, 16x4) was instrumental in Punjab finishing at 214 for one against Baroda on the first day.

At Nagothane, Rajat Bhatia’s five for 29 put Delhi on top against Maharashtra.

At stumps, Delhi was 23 for the loss of one wicket in reply to the host’s first innings total of 219.

Super League: Maharashtra 219 in 77.4 overs (H. Kanitkar 67, R. Bhatia five for 29) vs Delhi 23 for one in 6.2 overs, at Nagothane.

Saurashtra 229 for eight in 90 overs (C. Pujara 48, R. Vinay Kumar five for 70) vs Karnataka, at Mysore.
