Demonstration staged

SALEM: Members of Salem District Powerloom Workers Association staged a demonstration here on Monday protesting against the shortage in power supply.

They claimed that production in hundreds of powerloom units in the district was affected due frequent power cuts. A large number of weavers, who were dependent on the powerloom industry for income, would be rendered jobless, if the power crisis continued. They urged the Government to take immediate steps to provide uninterrupted power supply to the weaving units.
