Over 100 kg adulterated tea seized

NAMAKKAL: A team of officials led by Namakkal Municipal Commissioner Poongodi Arumaikan collected tea samples from shops here recently. Officials said that the municipality initiated steps to check adulteration in food items particularly in tea following complaints from public. Officials seized more than 100 kg of adulterate tea during a raid held in the town recently. The Commissioner along with Food Inspector V. Subbaiah and health officials inspected the shops in the town and collected the samples. Officials said that the samples had been sent for analysis to the laboratory. Stern action would be initiated against the shopkeepers if they were found selling adulterated tea.
