Rs.1,500 MSP sought for sugarcane

HYDERABAD: The AP Sugarcane Farmers’ Association has demanded that the government fix Rs. 1,500 as the minimum support price for a tonne of sugarcane and thus come to the rescue of ryots. In a letter to Chief Minister Y. S. Rajasekhara Reddy, S. Rama Rao, secretary, said on Monday that it was necessary in view of the losses suffered by them in account of steep rise in the cutting charges.
