Singer L.R. Eswari felicitated

Singers perform some of her most memorable numbers
CHENNAI: It was a memorable evening of the enchanting music of noted singer of yesteryear L.R. Eswari, who was felicitated here on Sunday.
She was presented with a gold medal by Mrs.Y.G.Parthasarathy, dean, Padma Seshadri Bala Bhavan group of schools.
Immortal songs
Fans continue to be mesmerised by the immortal songs of L.R. Eswari, such as ‘Pattathu Rani’ (the function was titled after this song).
Show anchors Y.Gee. Mahendra and ARS provided interesting insights into the singer’s life and explained how some of her melodies were recorded.
Some enjoyable numbers performed were ‘Palingu Nan Oru’ (Vallavan Oruvan), ‘Malarendra’ (Kadhalikka Neramillai) and ‘Adavarellam’ (Karupuppanam).
Singers who performed at the show, organised jointly by Madhu Enterprises and Alandur Fine Arts, included Malathi Lakshman, Madhuvanthi, Madhumitha, Suchitra, Prasanna, T.M.S. Balraj, Kovai Murali, Thyagu, Sainthavi, Madurai Kavitha, Sudha, Sabitha and Raja.
Veteran playback singers T.M. Soundararajan, S. Janaki, A.L. Raghavan, and actors M.N. Rajam and Sachu were present.
