Jammu: People’s Democratic Party (PDP) leader Muzzaffar Hussain Baig was on Monday inducted as Deputy Chief Minister of raising to 22 the strength of the Ghulam Nabi Azad Ministry.

Mr. Baig was administered the oath of office at the Raj Bhavan by Governor Lt. Gen. (retd.) S.K. Sinha.

The number of Cabinet Ministers has risen to 14 after his reinduction. There are eight Ministers of State in the Congress-led coalition government.

Mr. Baig’s reinduction brings to an end his differences with PDP patron Mufti Mohammad Sayeed and his daughter and party president Mehbooba Mufti.

In September 2006, Mr. Baig was stripped of the position following the PDP’s allegation that he was getting closer to the Congress, particularly Chief Minister Ghulam Nabi Azad.
