NEW DELHI: A city court on Monday asked the Central Bureau of Investigation to supply a copy of the charge sheet to Ashok Malhotra, the main accused in the Molarband land scam case. Special Judge S. K. Kaushik, while hearing Malhotra’s bail plea, directed the agency to provide the copy after considering the petition of the accused who sought the copy to be able to prepare grounds for seeking bail. The court directed the CBI to hand over a copy of the charge sheet to the accused by Tuesday afternoon. CBI’s counsel assured the court that the direction would be complied with. Hearing on Malhotra’s bail plea has been deferred till Wednesday. Apart from Malhotra, many officials of the DDA have been accused in the case. Malhotra was accused of fraudulently grabbing the land earmarked for rehabilitation of slum dwellers in Molarband with the help of DDA officials and then selling the plots in the open market.
