BSES to bank surplus power with UPC

Staff Reporter

NEW DELHI: Power distribution company BSES has inked an agreement to bank surplus power with the Uttarakhand Power Corporation (UPC).

Winter months

As per the agreement, BSES will give100 MW of power to UPC during the night in the lean winter months, when the power is usually surplus. During summer months -- from April onwards – Uttarakhand Power Corporation will give the same quantity of power to Delhi to meet its demand.

This power banking will help BSES offset buying expensive power in summers to some extent.
