Cyriac John returns to Congress

Staff Reporter

Kozhikode: It was a sort of a homecoming for Cyriac John, who recently quit the Nationalist Congress Party (NCP), and hundreds of his supporters.

After a long gap of 23 years, Mr. John, along with several office-bearers of the NCP at the district, State and national levels, was formally inducted into the Congress at a convention here on Monday.

Kerala Pradesh Congress Committee (KPCC) president Ramesh Chennithala handed over the primary membership of the party to Mr. John at the packed CSI English Church parish hall here on Wayanad Road. Later, Mr. John was given a rousing reception at the District Congress Committee (DCC) office.

Mr. John, who was also the former State president of the NCP, said he had taken the decision to join the Congress in the changed political climate at the State and national levels. The changes seen in the Congress were positive. It now had a vibrant leadership.
