HYDERABAD: A rickshaw puller Santosh was arrested in connection with the alleged theft of two bodies from the Osmania General Hospital morgue by the Afzalgunj police on Monday. “The employees of a Telugu news channel who allegedly lured Santosh to steal the corpses for their sting operation would also be taken into custody,” the police said. According to them, an employee of the channel approached the rickshaw puller claiming himself as a private medical college teacher. He asked Santosh to provide a body for autopsy. The channel employee offered Rs. 2,000 to Santosh and paid Rs. 400 as advance. The morgue attender Yadagiri locked the outer gate and slept near the Quli Qutub Shah block. “Santosh scaled one of the walls of the morgue, brought out two bodies, shifted them onto his rickshaw and took them to Puranapool bridge to hand them to the fake doctor. As the party did not turn up till late in the night, the rickshaw puller got scared and dumped them into the Musi beneath. During the investigation, the police learnt that Santosh of Kholsiwadi used to move in and around the OGH frequently. As disappearance of the bodies from the mortuary created a furore, the attender too pointed the needle of suspicion towards the rickshaw puller who confessed to his crime later.
