Muslim quota case

Hyderabad: As the government has ordered comprehensive revision of the list of Backward Classes which is still under process, it could not have asked for identification of BC castes in Muslim community, the bench of five judges of the High Court was told by K. Ramakrishna Reddy, senior counsel. He was appearing for the petitioners challenging the reservation provided to select castes of Muslim community in the State.

The bench comprising Justice T. Meena Kumari, Justice B. Prakash Rao, Justice D.S.R.Varma, Justice A.Gopala Reddy and Justice V. Eswariah on Monday continued to hear the final arguments in batch of cases filed by concerned citizens, BC leaders, organisations and some students. The bench wanted to know whether the government had power to make such request at all. The arguments will continue on Tuesday.
