“DMK putting pressure on private bus operators”

Special Correspondent

CHENNAI: The All India Anna Dravida Munnetra Kazhagam on Monday urged the Government to ensure that transport services were not disrupted in view of the ruling Dravida Munnetra Kazhagam’s youth conference to be held at Tirunelveli on December 15 and 16. In a memorandum to the Home Secretary, the AIADMK charged the DMK with exerting pressure on private bus operators to run their vehicles on routes other than the sanctioned one so that the vehicles were available for the conference.

If the vehicles were operated on the routes other than the usual, school and college students, office-goers and the public would be subjected to hardship, the AIADMK argued.

The authorities should monitor movement of private buses, said the memorandum said.
