Government in talks with Left

Special Correspondent

NEW DELHI: The Congress on Monday said the government was engaged in talks with the Left parties on the UPA-Left coordination committee on the India-U.S. nuclear agreement.

Responding to the deadline set by Communist Party of India (Marxist) leader Prakash Karat for the government to conclude negotiations with the International Atomic Energy Agency by December-end “or face polls,” Congress spokesman Shakeel Ahmed said it was possible the talks would end before the month was out.

He said the decision to go to the IAEA was taken on the coordination committee and the government would get back to the panel on the negotiations.
