From thriller to comedy and from reality to fiction, Zee Next -- a new Hindi channel that goes on air on December 17 -- will have it all. Targeted at Generation X, the new channel intends to entice new audience into the living room without alienating the existing loyalists of the Zee Network. Beaming seven shows, the Hindi channel will telecast five fiction programmes, one intra-college game show and one musical from Monday. Programme updateRevolving around a girl named Dabboo, who knows that in order to achieve something in life she has to keep trying, is ‘Jhoome Jiiya Re’. The protagonist finally realises that her true calling is to become a dancer. Taking a peek into the life of an 18-year-old princess who is overly sheltered and closeted in a palace is ‘Ek Thi Raj Kumari’. The princess connects with the outside world through the internet. The passion to explore the world is so intense that she decides to rebel against her dominating mother. However, a conman convinces her that he is her prince charming. Peer pressure, generation gap and coming of age are alien concepts for Raima and Ravi, the brother-sister duo from a small town. Showcasing their lives is the Cinevistaas Limited’s show ‘Yahaan Ke Hum Sikander’. The duo move into the big city after getting admission in a happening college. They forge a friendship with five other individuals. A rainbow of emotions from drama to comedy, tragedy and romance can be seen in this serial. Four small town girls from different walks of life meet together under one roof because of the unmistakable hand of fate in the serial ‘Simplly Sapney’. Cathy, Pammi, Ree and Gajra come to a seven star hotel in Goa with their family secrets and missions. Shows and competitionsDescribed as a zingy, zany youthful intra-college games show, ‘Ziinda Dil’ will test the crazy quotient of a contestant as well as their on-the-spot humour. The show is all about the youth’s perspective on current issues. ‘Rock the Dhunn’ is a blockbuster musical show. It is ‘Sa Re Ga Ma Pa’ sans the competition and drama. The finalists from ‘Sa Re Ga Ma Pa’ and ‘L’il Champs’ will bring good music and song on the show and ‘Pyaar Ishq Mohabbat’ is a 64 episode series of love stories. - Madhur Tankha
