Sunni leader speaks out against educational reforms

Staff Reporter

MALAPPURAM: Sunni leader and Ma’dinu Ssaquafathil Islamiyya chairman Sayed Ibrahim Khaleel Buqari has described the draft framework of the proposed educational reforms as dangerous enough to destroy the moral values of the society.

He was inaugurating a protest rally organized by the Sunni Management Association (SMA) here on Tuesday demanding removal of clauses that clash with religious beliefs and practices from the draft proposal. Police stopped the march in front of the Deputy Director of Education (DDE)’s office.

He said the draft framework was a blemish to Kerala’s culture.

The aggression on a culture cultivated through a perfect blend of spiritual and temporal education in the State cannot be brooked at any cost, said Mr. Buqari.
