CHANDIGARH: Punjab Governor and Administrator of Union Territory of Chandigarh S.F. Rodrigues on Monday, while releasing a handbook “Your Child’s Road Safety” brought out by Arrive-Safe Society, called for re-structuring the Children’s Traffic Park to educate the children about road safety measures. Emphasising the need to ‘catch them young’, he said that the process of developing interest and understanding in road safety techniques must start among children at the age of five through educative programmes in the family and schools. He added that DPI (Schools) S.K. Setia and some school principals would be associated with for giving practical shape to this child-friendly plan. Children should be imparted intellectual and moral education at the primary school stage with special emphasis on helping them to be confident and good human beings, concerned about community services, development of community, state and the country along with awareness of Indian cultural heritage, the Governor said. The author of the book, Harman Singh Sidhu, a web developer and president of the Arrive-Safe Society, is confined to a wheel chair after suffering physical deformity in a road accident.
