‘The entire scheme is fraught with inconsistencies’ Regularisation should be based on market value GULBARGA: The Hyderabad Karnataka Janapara Sangarsha Samiti on Tuesday welcomed the decision of the Karnataka High Court to keep the Akrama Sakrama scheme in abeyance and urged Governor Rameshwar Thakur to take steps to scrap the controversial scheme passed in the Belgaum session of the Legislative Assembly. Addressing a press conference here, president of the samiti Laxman Dasti said that the High Court decision should be an eye-opener to the government. He said that the move to regularise unauthorised structures was fraught with inconsistencies. Mr. Dasti pointed out that the uniform penalty of Rs. 150 per square metre for violations fixed by the government for all city corporations other than Bangalore was incorrect and would affect the common man. He said that the land value in places such as Mysore, Hubli and Mangalore could not be compared to that in places such as Gulbarga. Regularisation of unauthorised constructions or land registered earlier should be based on the market value and not according to the whims and fancies of officials sitting in Bangalore, he said. The samiti also withdrew its decision to call for a Gulbarga bandh against the regularisation drive in the last week of December in view of the court’s decision. Mr. Dasti said that the samiti would be organising a meeting of all newly elected corporation councillors on December 16 in Gulbarga to frame a time-bound programme for the development of Gulbarga with the funds available. The meeting would be inaugurated by Iqbal Ahmed Saradgi, Gulbarga MP. Leaders, including Sashil G. Namoshi, MLC, District Congress Committee president Allamprabhu Patil, Bharatiya Janata Party district president Amarnath Patil, Janata Dal (S) president Basavaraj Tadkal, and senior officials, including Deputy Commissioner Pankajkumar Pandey, City Corporation Commissioner Nagappa Sirasagi and GDA Commissioner Kashinath Gokhale would attend.
