‘Ensure power connection to IP sets’

Belgaum: The Belgaum Zilla Panchayat president, Nazeer Ahmed Nadaf, has asked the Hubli Electricity Supply Company (HESCOM) authorities to ensure prompt and immediate electricity supply connection to irrigation pumpsets sanctioned under the Ganga Kalyan scheme by the Government.

Presiding over the Karnataka Development Programme meeting here on Tuesday, he said 612 irrigation pumpsets were yet to be given power connections. If power supply was not provided, the purpose of sanctioning and the amount spent on these irrigation pumpsets would go down the drain.

The HESCOM authorities take steps to provide power supply and make the scheme successful and meaningful so that farmers reaped the benefit of government schemes.

Zilla panchayat chief executive officer N. Prabhakar asked all officials and panchayat bodies concerned to effectively implement the employment guarantee scheme, according to a release here on Tuesday.
