The party will field candidates in all the eight Assembly segments BIJAPUR: President of the district unit of the Janata Dal (S) M.C. Managuli has said that all units of the party at the taluk and district levels will be revamped in a week. Speaking to presspersons after assuming charge at the party office here on Tuesday, he said that he would discuss ways of strengthening the party with senior leaders, office-bearers and former legislators and revamp the units in consultation with the party leadership. Mr. Managuli said that the party would field candidates in all the eight Assembly segments in the district in the coming elections, while he would contest from Sindagi constituency if the party chose to nominate him. The party would approach the people based on the good work done by the former Chief Minister H.D. Kumaraswamy, he said. He dismissed reports that Ravikant Patil, former Indi MLA, had distanced himself from the party and was planning to join the Bharatiya Janata Party as rumours. The former MLC and vice-president of the State unit, S.D. Karpoorimath, State unit secretary Bandenwaj Mahabari, the former Member of Legislative Assembly N.S. Khed, and the former chairman of the Bijapur Urban Development Authority Riyaz Faruqui were present.
