DEHRA DUN: Human rights activist Avdhash Kaushal has opposed the Supreme Court’s judgment urging the judiciary to exercise restraint and not interfere in the functioning of the executive. “Will stop landmark judgments”“If judicial dynamism is checked the nation may not be able to receive landmark judgments like the ones that banned interviews of tiny tots or their parents by school managements or paved way for revolutionary laws like the Environment Protection Act, Bonded Labour Abolition Act or the provision of Mid Day Meals Scheme for the poor children”, Mr Kaushal said. Judicial dynamism has also provided for drinking water in many schools and free beds for the poor in hospitals, cleaner air to breathe etc. and these orders came after the executive failed to meet the primary demands of the public and have been widely welcomed by all, Mr Kaushal said. The human rights activist further added that steps were also required to be taken to make the executive sensitive towards the basic needs of the masses. Mr. Kaushal wanted a moratorium on re-employment of judges for a period of two years after retirement so that the judicial experts could not be allured by scheming politicians.
