‘Break boundaries’: Former chairperson of State Women’s Commission Pramila Nesargi and FKCCI President S.S. Patil at the discussion in Bangalore on Tuesday. Bangalore: Women entrepreneurs should move beyond stereotypes such as papad and pickle-making and look for bigger challenges, former Karnataka State Women’s Commission Chairperson Pramila Nesargi said. Addressing a group of women entrepreneurs, at a discussion organised by the Federation of Karnataka Chamber of Commerce and Industry (FKCCI) here on Tuesday, she said that women should shed inhibitions about taking risks and making big investments. They should explore new avenues such as nanotechnology as possible areas of entrepreneurship, she added. Counselling women on how they should equip themselves to handle challenges, Ms. Nesargi said that they should acquaint themselves with the laws of the land where ever they take up the enterprise. Invest in researchThey should also invest in research and development and work towards establishing a brand name and a trademark, said Ms. Nesargi to the women entrpreneurs. Countries such as Japan succeeded in opening up avenues for women, she added. Delegation’s visitUma Reddy, Chairperson of the Women’s Entrepreneurs Committee of the FKCCI, spoke about the delegation’s recent visit to Cairo and the Memorandum of Understanding they signed with women entrepreneurs of Egypt.
