ALIGARH: Noted geographer and professor emeritus at the Department of Geography at Aligarh Muslim University M. Shafi passed away here on Sunday. He was 83. The Padam Shri awardee is survived by two sons and three daughters. Prof. Shafi had authored 13 books and over 140 research papers. He had been awarded many international medals and honours by organisations like the Royal Geographical Society, London, and the World Cultural Council, Mexico.
