JAIPUR: Rajasthan has decided to make it compulsory for all three-wheeler diesel tempos plying in Bharatpur district to install “scrubber”, a filtering device in order to save Taj Mahal from atmospheric pollution. The Transport Department in the State took this decision after a recent meeting of the Taj Trapezium Zone Pollution (Prevention and Control) Commission. Bharatpur, one of the five districts falling in the Taj Trapezium area along with four in Uttar Pradesh, is the first district in Rajasthan to have this kind of directive for vehicles. The UP districts in the trapezium are Agra, Firozabad, Mathura and Hazrath. In Uttar Pradesh districts installation of scrubber is compulsory. Transport Commissioner Jagdish Chand said the district authorities have been asked to ensure that all the diesel tempos in the area installed the device at the earliest. The Department would soon deploy flying squads to check the compliance of the order. Scrubber is a device that is installed in the place of the silencer of the vehicle.
