Accused of cheating a US-based woman of six acres of land He was suspended after arrest by CBI, but later reinstated SHIMLA: A local court in Patiala has issued non-bailable warrants against Himachal Pradesh Additional Director General of Police (ADGP), B S Thind, in a land deal case. With the Rajpura lower court having issued non-bailable warrants on Monday against the controversial police officer, the issue was bound to find its way into the political arena in the hill State that goes to polls on December 19. Mr. Thind is accused of cheating a US-based woman Pritpal Kaur of six acres of her prime land in Kharar town in Punjab allegedly using forged documents. Other casesThe officer is also facing other cases in various Punjab courts after the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) found him involved in shady land deals around Chandigarh and in seeking loans worth millions of rupees from different banks by presenting ‘forged’ documents. The police officer, who was a blue-eyed boy of Chief Minister Virbhadra Singh and aspiring to become the Director General of Police in Himachal, was suspended by the State Government last year after he was arrested by the Central Bureau of Investigation. However, the suspension was revoked six months later. A great hue and cry was made by the Opposition in Vidhan Sabha when the controversial officer had reportedly written a letter from the custody to the powers-that-be for helping in his immediate release.
