Health concerns: Central government employees protesting against the move of corporate referral hospitals to withdraw services to the CGHS beneficiaries in Hyderabad on Tuesday.

HYDERABAD: Members of the Confederation of Central Government Employees and Workers, Andhra Pradesh unit, staged a dharna here on Tuesday against the withdrawal of treatment facilities by corporate hospitals to CGHS beneficiaries.

They gathered at the Begumpet CGHS unit and raised slogans calling for a fight to protect ‘our rights’. Leaders of the confederation T. Satyanarayana and V. Nageswara Rao contended that the corporate hospitals’ decision was not justified as they had availed themselves of several government concessions for their infrastructure and other facilities.

Addressing the protestors, the leaders faulted the CGHS administration and the Union Health Ministry with ‘inept’ handling of the issue, causing serious problems to the beneficiaries.

Dedicated hospital

They wanted the CGHS administration to set up its own hospital with all specialists and diagnostic facilities to overcome dependence on corporate hospitals.
