This Day That Age
A mass airlift of Dutch nationals from Indonesia began on December 10 with women and children first, on three airliners leaving Jakarta for Singapore. About 80 people left in two Garuda Indonesian Airways plane, and a British Argonaut left Jakarta with another 45 evacuees after top-level diplomatic consultations. Troops with pistols and sten-guns were on duty with orders to let no unauthorised person on the tarmac. Indonesia has told all jobless or Dutch Government subsidised Dutch citizens they must quit Indonesia.
