Butta in lead

KOLKATA: Akshay Butta shot a one-under par 71 to grab the lead on the first day of the LG RCGC Cup at the Royal Calcutta Golf Club here on Tuesday. This is the 10th leg of the LG Indian Amateur Golf Tour 2007-08 season.

Saurav Bahuguna, Rahul Bajaj and Sri Lankan Mithun Perera are all one shot behind the leader.

Pre-tournament favourites, Abhishek Jha, Simarjeet Singh, Gagan Verma and Tarun Gogale, all carded a one-over to be tied for the fifth place while the man in form Manav Das shared the ninth place along with Jan Mohammed, Rudresh Sharma and Pawan Kumar at two-over. — Special Correspondent
