Raghunath strikes thrice

BANGALORE: Centre of Excellence, propelled by Raghunath’s triple strike (12th, 29th & 49th), beat Indian Telephone Industries 5-1 in the State ‘A’ division league hockey tournament here on Tuesday.

Danish Mujtaba (26th) and Krishna Kishore (53rd) also scored for CoE. Ramesh Yadav (20th) was the sole scorer for ITI.

Sports Authority of India ‘B’ beat Dhanraj Ballal Hockey Academy 3-0, with former international Len Aiyappa (24th) and Madappa (31st) scoring in the first half and Nagaraj (58th) slotting home in the second.

Earlier, Madras Engineering Group ‘B’ defeated Coorg Blues 4-2. MEG ‘B’ went on a scoring spree in the first half with Kiran (2nd & 11th) logging a double, and Bopanna (15th) and Prithvi Shetty (20th) finding the goal.

K.K Poonacha (9th) scored in the first half for Coorg Blues and Kariappa (37th) scored the only goal in the second session of the game.
