Bangalore: The interactive Web 2.0 is described as the “second innings” of the World Wide Web, having created the possibility of blogs, social networking and podcasts. To create awareness about the applications of Web 2.0, Trade Fairs and Conferences International (TFCI) is organising “Web Innovation 2007 - Nextgen web technology revolution: 2.0 and beyond.”

The conference will have two tracks – a business track and a technology one, said Vivek Kulkarni, chairman and CEO, Brickwork India, speaking to presspersons on Tuesday. “The business track will introduce the fundamentals of creating online products and services; and the technology track will discuss methods to optimize Web 2.0,” he said.

The event will create a platform for both IT and business decision-makers to get in-depth information on the technologies that Web 2.0 will create, he added.

B.V. Naidu, managing director, SemIndia Systems, said that these new technologies are set to “change the face of business.” Web 2.0 stands in contrast to the traditional websites which used to limit visitors to merely viewing and whose content could be modified only by the site’s owner, he said.

Mr. Naidu added that smaller enterprises could now hope to compete with larger companies “by creating effective marketing channels that will reach millions of customers for a fraction of the price.” Over 45 Web 2.0 experts will speak at the Web 2.0 conference, which will be attended by over 600 delegates from across the world, said Bal Tarakad, CEO of TFCI. He added that the “Web Designer Award 2007,” sponsored by the National Institute of Design and Microsoft, will be announced at the conference.

The event is sponsored by Microsoft, IndiaTimes, Yahoo!, Adobe and others.

The two day conference will be held on December 18 and 19 at the Grand Ashok hotel. The registration fee is Rs. 6,000.
